Much more than sunshine for children in KZN

Wednesday 5 June 2019
In KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Save the Children implements projects in education, early childhood development, health, child protection and child rights – and reached more than 120 000 girls and boys in 2018.

Spread across four districts (eThekwini, Zululand, uGu and ILembe), Save the Children works with the departments of Education, Health and Social Development – as well as local municipalities – to support children in over 100 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, 112 schools and work with communities from 75 wards.

Thanks to your support, we’re providing resources for schools and ECD centres to create a conducive learning environment, as well as provide appropriate training for government officials, teachers, social workers, community-based organisations, community workers, parents and children themselves.

As importantly, Save the Children also provides platforms for children to voice the issues that affect them, through initiatives like the Child Ambassador Programme, Accountability corners, Youth Summits and the Provincial and National Children’s Parliament.

Friends like you help us to ensure that vulnerable children receive quality care, and reach children in remote and under-resourced communities . . . thank you!
