New books, furniture and toys for the Sizolomphakathi ECD centre

Monday 29 April 2019
Children at the Sizolomphakathi ECD centre have more reason to smile this winter, not only are they guaranteed a warm environment but they have also received new books and toys. This is thanks to the R50, 000 that was raised through the online crowdfunding philanthropy platform Different.org.

The funds were also used to purchase furniture including a new stove, fridge and a carpet for the centre, which is located in Tjakastad, Mpumulanga. The centre, which is run by Save the Children South Africa (SCSA), was in dire need of new equipment and support in order to continue delivering for children.

Sizolomphakhathi, which means “Helping the Community”, serves almost 50 children between the ages of two and five. In the afternoon, the centre also serves as an after care for older pupils from neighbouring schools.
“The centre management, educators and the children have all expressed their appreciation and the word of thanks to the different organisation for the funding/donation that has been valuable to centre,” says Eric Mahlo, SCSA’s provincial manager for Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

The children have started using the materials and are excited.
